Can someone come and deck MY halls? PLEASE?

By this time last year, here is what my house looked like:

Everything was spic and span (notice the sheen of the floors), all of our decorations were up and most of the presents were bought and stored away. I had Christmas cards AT LEAST figured out and had a pretty good jump start on neighbor gifts and school staff gifts. I even went as far as to take these pictures so I could REMEMBER where I put everything so I didn't have to RE-FIGURE it out for next year (am I the only one who has such a poor short term memory)? Anyway, in a nutshell, I was as ON THE BALL as one could be! So what is my problem this year? Currently, my house looks like this:

The LAST thing I feel like doing right now is lugging all the Christmas stuff in and getting the house ready (let alone getting the floors to the perfect sheen). I don't have a clue what I'm sending for Christmas cards nor do I have any idea what the neighbors and co-workers will be getting from us. I didn't even make it to all the Black Friday events that I usually go to (Steve went instead). I just can't seem to even find the DESIRE to get going with the holidays this year and it's freaking me out a little. I am hoping that I can blame it on the fact that we were a little under the weather this Thanksgiving and have been a bit sleep deprived for the last few nights. But then again, usually the ENJOYMENT of decking the halls gives me a little adrenaline even if I am tired. So who knows?!

Anyway, just thought I'd blog it out a bit. See if any of the rest of you are having "Christmas Withdrawals" too? Probably not. This is so bazaar! Hopefully I'll snap out of it! Otherwise, it might be Christmas BREAK before I actually get my act together! Yikes. I really could use a decorating fairy to come over and deck our halls RIGHT NOW! Anyone?

I got our stuff out last week. And I want to enjoy the season for as long as I possibly can. I'm NOT saying that I'm done with my decorationg. BUT at least my tree is out and decorated. Maybe that's all I needed. I don't have the shopping fever yet. Don't plan on it since we've cancelled buying gifts for our family this year (my kids not included). Good luck, and don't worry about it. Ask you kids, I'm sure they'd help... and once they get excited, I'm sure you'll be right there with them.

Well, I can not be your decorating fairy. Sorry. I am in the same boat as you. For some reason having 4 kids and working full time is harder than I thought. Of course last year I was not on the ball either. I never did get christmas pictures of our family and I bought the cards! I am hoping that I snap out of it too. I have gotten most of the kids gifts bought and wrapped, I have bought the clothing for family Christmas pictures, picked the photographer, and Blaine has put up the lights outside. So that just leaves the decorating, co-workers gifts, neighbor gifts, and the rest of the family gifts and the cards. I guess I am half way there! Good luck to you!

I am definitely with you on the decorating boat. The thought of having to get it all out is so overwhelming. I do have the majority of my shopping done. Thanks to Amazon.com, I have been able to do it at home over the last couple of months. I still have neighbor gifts to get though(I have no idea what.) But hopefully we will be cutting down our tree this afternoon and maybe that will help get me motivated. Plus, I think I will wait until I get kids back in school. I have way to many helpers right now:)

Just say when and I'm more than happy to help! John and I are done with the inside of the house. I'll have to post pictures. It turned out better than I thought it would since we had to "Tuffy proof" everything. It really helps that I gave a TON of stuff to my sister last year (we had a lot of mismatched items). However I'm bad at the short term memory thing too... I had forgotten that we gave Dana all those Christmas decorations so I kept asking John where the rest of the stuff is :) no worries!

I am with you on not knowing what to do for co-workers. But I have started sending out cards this weekend and I am done shopping. If you want help decorating I am willing to help, just tell me when. I have my classroom all decorated and everyone shopped for, so I am free anytime. Plus my mom does all the decorating at home, all I get to do is bake and I would love to decorate.

My excuse last year and 3 years b4 that and 2 years before that was that I was pregnant and felt no desire what so ever to decorate. I'm excited this year! I actually can't wait to get home from St. George (yeah we are right next door to you as I type this)and get our tree up! Carter just thought we forgot last year!!!

I think that we might all be in the same boat this year. I keep telling myself, "Simplify!" So I'm just not putting out everything this year, and it is going to be just as fun as always...and not as much to put away later! Somehow it will all just have to get done in the next month- I hope!

You'll get there ... Don't stress. that's the best part of the holidays is to get to spend some time together. and if there is only the tree up for Santa to visit, no worries. The boys will love it all !!! Miss you and love you !

Girl, I'd help, but my inside isn't done either. I did hang lights outside this year all by myself thank you very much, but inside is still lacking. And I don't even want to mention the disaster that is my house. Why am I even blogging right now? Anyway, I'm thinking Costco is the way to go for your cards this year. Don't beat yourself up!!!

It sounds like you are in a funk. I am not going to lie. I am a little disappointed. Your Christmas card is one that I look forward to every year. You always put so much thought into them. Dang. Could you pull it together!!! Although, I made my cards last year for the first time...and me no makey this year! Costco printables will have to do. Who has time these days!?? ps. Would you atleast put a tree up!?

One more thing... I have a cute elf named Mr. Peeps that comes to our house to "watch" the kids for Santa. He sits in a different place each day...This might be a way to redeem yourself for being such a slacker this year. What...are you gone all day or something?? I will email you the cute poem then you have to make a trip to TJ Maxx...to find an elf! That is as far as "deck your halls" as I am going to go!! Sorry for the ramblings....
